Newspaper Home Delivery Methods

Learn more about the delivery methods the The New York Times uses to deliver your Home Delivery newspaper subscription.

The New York Times has three delivery methods for Home Delivery subscriptions: Same Day Home Delivery, Next Day Home Delivery, and Home Delivery by Mail.

  • A combination of these delivery methods is common.
  • These methods are based on carrier availability in your region and used at The New York Times’s discretion to ensure delivery of your newspaper.
  • If there is a change to your delivery schedule or method, The New York Times will notify you prior to the change via email or mail.

Note: Due to ongoing changes in distribution throughout the United States, changes to the delivery method of your paper may occur after purchasing your Home Delivery subscription. To learn more please visit the Terms of Sale. If the paper can no longer be delivered by a local delivery partner in your area, you can still receive the New York Times newspaper by signing up for a Mail Subscription.

Same Day Home Delivery

Your newspaper is delivered:

  • by a carrier working for a New York Times distributor
  • on the day of publication

You can report missed deliveries after your estimated delivery time has passed in your account.

Next Day Home Delivery

Your newspaper is delivered:

  • by a carrier working for a New York Times distributor
  • one or two days after publication. For example, if you have next day delivery for your Saturday newspaper, then it will be delivered on Sunday.

You can report missed deliveries after your estimated delivery time has passed in your account.

Home Delivery by Mail

This information only applies to Home Delivery newspaper subscriptions. If you have a Mail Subscription, visit our Mail Subscription article to learn more about how your newspaper is delivered.

Your newspaper is:

  • delivered by the United State Postal Service (USPS)
  • subject to USPS processing times and delays. Typically you can expect your newspaper up to four days after the publication date.

You can report missed deliveries four business days after the publication date of the missed paper in your account.
