About Letter Boxed

Letter Boxed is a game that challenges players to spell words by connecting letters around a square. Letter Boxed words are curated by editors therefore the game may not include all words present in a dictionary.

The objective of Letter Boxed is to use all of the letters in as few words as possible to solve.

  • Connect letters to spell words.
  • Words must be at least 3 letters long.
  • Letters can be reused, but consecutive letters cannot be from the same side.
  • The last letter of a word becomes the first letter of the next word (e.g. HERE > EVERY > YEAR).
  • Select Enter after creating a word.
  • Words cannot be proper nouns or hyphenated.
  • Letter Boxed words are curated by editors therefore the game may not include all words present in a dictionary.
  • The total stated at game completion is a par-score.
    • A par scoring system sets a target score (par), and the goal is to try to match or best that score.

Letter Boxed is available to New York Times Games, All Access, and Home Delivery subscribers.

Note: Letter Boxed does not have statistics at this time.
