Delete Your New York Times Account

Learn how to delete your New York Times account on the web as well as The New York Times iOS and Android apps.

By deleting your account, you will permanently lose access to all history associated with your account. You will no longer be able to use features that require a New York Times account.

A few things to note if you decide to delete your account:

  • We cannot delete an account with an active subscription on it. You must cancel your subscription and wait for benefits to end before you can delete your account.
  • Only the account attached to the email address you are currently logged in with will be deleted. If you have additional accounts under different email addresses you must log in and delete those separately.
  • You will lose all account history when you delete your account. This includes but is not limited to game stats and streaks, saved articles and recipes, and article recommendations.
  • Deleting your account will stop email communication to the email address associated with it. If you want to keep your account and settings but stop receiving emails, you can opt-out of email marketing or newsletters in the Email and settings section of your account.
  • If you delete your account, you will need to create a new account if you want to use all features of The New York Times again.
